Get to know Yellow Paws

Meet Flynn and Leah

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Leah and I am the owner of Yellow Paws.

My vision for creating Yellow Paws all started when I first learned what The Dogs in Yellow Movement or The Yellow Dog Project was. I was in absolute AWE of this and that someone could take such a beautiful and vibrant color and give it such an amazing meaning. The color yellow helps aid the safety of our four legged friends by telling anyone around them “If I am in yellow, please give me space.”

My dog Flynn is a Standard Australian Shepherd and something that comes with this breed is fear, anxiety, aggression and reactivity. After about a week of having him at only 10 weeks old he started showing me just what an Aussie is. I was uneducated at the time and thought these were normal puppy antics. Now 2 years later he is my WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD and my YELLOW. He is the entire reason Yellow Paws is what it is and as much as his reactivity and stranger danger can be tough on walks having a symbol that can gently tell the world, “please give me space” it is perfect!

The average person tends to see a barking and growling dog and their immediate thought is to just assume that the dog is not friendly which can sometimes be exactly what the owner would want but other times strangers tend to come running up arms wide open because all they see is an adorable dog which can at times be dangerous given the circumstances.

My goal in creating Yellow Paws is to spread information about what it actually means to see dog’s in yellow and how important it is to give them their space.

Flynn will always be in yellow whether that is on his leash, collar, or bandana and if he can’t wear it, then I will. I Hope that through our brand this can reach and teach other’s about all of our fur babies one Yellow Paw at a time!
